The Muses

You never really hear much about the Muses in the more main-stream versions of Greek Mythology. I'd say they are the most famous because of Disney's Hercules, which portrayed them as 5 narrators of the story. Although there are more than 5, the story telling aspects of this portrayal are decently accurate. In multiple invocations of the Muses, they are asked to help tell a story. It feels good to me that there is a pretty accurate account of these goddesses.

The Muses

I thought The Theogony was a good story. One part that stuck out to me was towards the beginning of the story though. Kronos sees his mother call his father mad and encourages Kronos and/or his siblings to take vengeance on their father. Kronos tells his mother that he basically agrees his father is a monster and that he will take care of his father. The irony in this is that when Kronos has kids, he becomes the monster to his children. The irony in this really stuck out to me.

The Muses

I found The Muses interesting because they all have different attribute to inspire science, literature, and arts. I imagine they had a large impact for Greek arts and inspired many to tell myths and stories of gods using literature and art. It's also interesting they are all from Zeus and worship him almost as if he is like God and they're his angels that impact the lives of mortals.

The Muses

I thought The Muses were very interesting because I definitely saw some similarities between them and angels. The Muses were Zeus’s kids kind of like how God is also a father figure for the angels and is called such. They sing songs about how great and mighty Zeus is and the rest of the gods and tell people about the great works they do and how they should be worshipped always. That is also very similar to what angels do.
