Adding Hyperlinks + YouTube
When possible, embed content directly on the content page so that the learner doesn't have to leave the learning session to view a video on Youtube, for example. If you cannot embed links directly on a content page, make sure that your hyperlink opens in a new window and not the current window.
If you don't check this option in the hyperlink settings, the link will open in the same tab as your course. It breaks concentration when learners have to leave the learning system, visit a new page and then have to use the back button or open a new tab to go back into your course. Hyperlinks opening in a new window allows learners to save their place in the course.
To Add a Hyperlink
Highlight the text you want to link out. Add or remove a hyperlink using the icons in the text editor ribbon.

A dialogue box will open. Enter the URL and check "Open in new window."

YouTube
When you use this option for a Youtube video, the video will appear directly on the page. If you do not want the video player to show on your course page, copy and paste the link directly in the text editor WITHOUT using the hyperlink icon. When you save and return to the course, you will see a blue hyperlink instead of a gold hyperlink.
