GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Answer the questions in a way that reveals your learning and achievements. Think your best and write your best.

You must adhere to the highest standards of the Honor Code!!!

Be sure to read the first two questions as a pair before starting.

1.Using as an example one of your source-oriented papers, write an ESSAY about what you do well as a writer/thinker/reader, how you will continue to improve those strengths, what you need to work on in other ways, and how you will continue to improve that. You should give some sense of how your learning and study will help you find the best solution for you when it comes to writing new essays. Be sure to make the general tenor of your comments about your writing positive. How did reading the Essay on Twilight and The Hunger Games offer possible help in your writing?

 

2. In three, perhaps four, paragraphs, talk about how in-class and out of class work could have been different in ways that would have helped improve your writing/ thinking. What new classroom activities could I try that would help your writing/ thinking process?

 

3. Discuss the process of writing your piece about where you would travel. How did that differ from a more traditional “academic” paper? How will that help you improve your writing and thinking

 

4. Choose one or two things to add to BSC culture. Offer a useful analysis of what and how they would add. Think of things/ ideas/ activities that could be done or revised. Two or three good paragraphs should be fine

 

5. Argue that some specific life experiences or practical activities should count for General Education. Select a good example and make your case in two or three paragraphs with reference to what the catalogue says about General Education.

OR

5A. Argue that there should be no general education requirements at all for a college degree. Make your case in two or three paragraphs again with reference to the catalogue.

 

6. In one compelling Paragraph, explain Ockham’s (Occam’s) Razor and how it helps good thinking and good writing.

 

7. [If you have time- or as a bonus- attempt this question.] Suggest a book I could require the next time I teach EH 102. Explain why it would be a good choice and what it would add to the class.

 

7. You know the answers:

Do you give every paper a title?

Are subtitles Helpful?

Do you know how to use subsections?

Do you underline the title of your paper on your title page?
