GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Answer the questions in a way that reveals your learning and achievements. Think your best and write your best. You must adhere to the highest standard of the Honor code

Legibility is your responsibility!

Be sure to read the first two questions as a pair before starting.

1.Using as an example one of your two longer research papers, write an ESSAY about what you do well as a writer/thinker/reader, how you will continue to improve those strengths, what you need to work on in other ways, and how you will continue to improve those other concerns. You should give some sense of how your learning and study will help you find the best solution for you when it comes to writing new essays. Be sure to make the general tenor of your comments about your writing positive. How did the reading that you did for your research papers help you improve your thinking and writing skills? What practical activities will you apply to your next research assignment in some future class?

2. In two or three, perhaps four, paragraphs, summarize an article from your SAR reading with particular focus on the argument and the evidence in that article written by a BSC student.

OR

- After all your work on Wooly Mammoths, describe the differences you saw between the articles you used for your own research and the article that introduced it all "The Mammoth Cometh." How does the journalistic approach seem to differ from academic writing to you? Give a few practical differences between the various articles you read. Was it important to begin with "The Mammoth Cometh"? Which did you prefer reading? Which did you prefer writing?

3. Discuss the process of writing your most recent essay. How will that perspective and point of view help you improve your writing and thinking?

4. Choose one or two things to add to BSC culture. Offer a useful analysis of what and how they would add. Think of things/ ideas/ activities that could be done or revised. Two or three good paragraphs should be fine

5. Argue that some specific life experiences or practical activities should count for General Education. Select a good example and make your case in two or three paragraphs with reference to what the catalogue says about General Education.

OR

5A. Argue that there should be no general education requirements at all for a college degree. Make your case in two or three paragraphs again with reference to the catalogue.

6. In one compelling Paragraph, explain Ockham’s (Occam’s) Razor and how it helps good thinking and good writing.

7. [If you have time- or as a bonus- attempt this question.] Suggest a book I could require the next time I teach EH 102. Explain why it would be a good choice and what it would add to the class.

7. You know the answers:

Do you give every paper a title?

Are subtitles Helpful?

Do you know how to use subsections?

Do you underline the title of your paper on your title page?
